Survey View

It's useful when narrowing down similar shots (eg headshots) to use the Survey View in Lightroom to show a set of candidates using as much screen real estate as possible, then as candidates are rejected/knocked out the remaining images expand to fill the available space until the final selections remain.

    Yep both of those make sense to me! Doing the multi-select on the advanced view and then launching that view is probably how I'd use it, if both were available.
    If it is helpful, I guess my clients' use case is something like this:

    • Headshot session with say 300 proof images delivered, say three wardrobes with 100 images each
    • Each wardrobe will have shots with a different pose/setup, say 4 lots of 25 ish.
    • I'd probably select the 25ish from any one of those setups and show them all on the screen at once to start
    • Start knocking them out… it would be useful to be able to open one full screen and then return to the survey view, eg for a closer look at the expression etc
    • Get down to a set of (say) final 3 - tag them with favourite/approve/colour label
    • Do this for all of the different setups
    • Now go through the tagged ones to narrow it down to 4 or 7 or however many were in the client's package.

    Very nice idea! We'll think of how to add "Survey View". It could probably be launched after multi-selecting images in the Advanced view or even on the Image view with the active film strip (shift+click to add more). The film strip is a bit hidden right now on the top left. Would that make sense?
